Christian Identity Activity for Teen Girls: Make God’s Truth Louder

Make God’s Truth Louder: A Sticky Note Identity Activity for Christian Teen Girls

This activity was created to go along with our CHOSEN devotional, God Is Faithful. I Am Chosen. So I Can Live Confidently., part of our More Than the Game: Christian Team Devotions for Girls & Female Athletes series. In that devotional, we talk about helping our girls understand that their worth was never supposed to depend on who chooses them here. Coaches, friends, teams, and circumstances may change, but God doesn’t. He is faithful, He calls them chosen, and that gives them a foundation for real confidence.

This sticky note activity takes that truth one step further by helping girls put God’s truth in front of them every single day.

There are a lot of voices speaking into our girls’ lives.

Some come from friends. Some come from coaches, teachers, social media, or the world around them. And some of the loudest voices are the ones inside their own heads.

I’m not good enough.

She’s better than me.

What if I mess up?

What if they don’t like me?

I don’t belong here.

I wish I looked like her.

I can’t do this.

We may not be able to keep every negative thought, insecurity, fear, or comparison from entering our girls’ minds, but we can teach them what to do when those voices get loud.

Make God’s truth louder.

This simple sticky note activity was created to help girls surround themselves with reminders of who God is, who God says they are, and how knowing those truths can change the way they live.

Why Sticky Notes?

We hear a lot about helping girls build confidence and develop a positive self-image, and those things matter. But as Christians, we have the opportunity to give our girls something deeper than simply telling them to think positively about themselves.

We can teach them to know what is true.

Our confidence doesn’t have to begin with I am amazing. It can begin with God is faithful.

Our courage doesn’t have to begin with I am fearless. It can begin with God is with me.

Our worth doesn’t have to begin with convincing ourselves that everyone should choose us. It can begin with God chose me.

Our identity begins with Him.

That’s why I love the simplicity of this activity. A sticky note on a bathroom mirror may seem like a tiny thing, but when a girl reads “God is faithful” every morning while she’s getting ready for school, she is putting truth somewhere she will repeatedly see it.

When “I am chosen” is beside her bed, “God is with me” is inside her locker, and “I don’t have to prove my worth” is above her desk, God’s truth begins showing up in the ordinary places where real life happens.

Who God Is → Who I Am → How I Live

One of the things I want our girls to understand is that these truths aren’t random encouraging phrases. They connect to one another.

Who God is helps me understand who I am. And when I know who I am, it changes how I live.

If God is faithful, I can trust Him.

If God loves me, I can love others.

If God chose me, I don’t have to chase approval.

If God created me, my life has purpose.

If God is with me, I can be brave.

If God forgives me, I can begin again.

If God gives me grace, I don’t have to be perfect.

If God guides me, I can take the next step.

If God cares for me, I can give Him my worries.

If God is unchanging, I have somewhere firm to stand.

This is the heart behind the activity. We aren’t trying to convince our girls that they are capable of absolutely everything on their own. We’re teaching them to build their identity on who God is.

And the more they know who God is, the more they can understand who they are as His daughters.

The Sticky Note Activity

For this activity, I gave each girl a pad of sticky notes along with a list of truths and Scripture references they could use to get started.

The instructions are simple: fill the places you spend your everyday life with reminders of who God is and who you are because you belong to Him.

Put them on your bathroom mirror. Beside your bed. Above your desk. Inside your locker. On the door you walk through every morning. Anywhere you will actually see them.

The girls can use truths from the provided list, look up the Scriptures themselves, or begin adding new truths as they discover them while reading the Bible.

The goal isn’t to cover a bedroom in sticky notes just for the sake of completing an activity.

The goal is to create a habit of returning to truth.

What Should They Write?

I divided our ideas into three categories because I want the girls to see the progression.

The first is WHO GOD IS.

They might write:

God is faithful.
God is love.
God is good.
God is my Creator.
God is always with me.
God is my strength.
God hears me.
God sees me.
God knows me completely.
God is trustworthy.
God keeps His promises.
God gives me courage.
God gives wisdom.
God makes a way.
God gives me peace.

The second category is WHO GOD SAYS I AM.

Their notes might say:

I am God’s masterpiece.
I am chosen.
I am deeply loved.
I am wonderfully made.
I am God’s child.
I belong to God.
I am known by God.
I am never alone.
I am cared for.
I am seen.
I am forgiven.
I am created with purpose.
I am more than my mistakes.
I don’t have to earn God’s love.
I don’t have to prove my worth.

And the third category helps them take those truths into real life: HOW I CAN LIVE BECAUSE I AM A CHILD OF GOD.

I can trust Him.

I can love others.

I don’t have to chase approval.

I can be brave.

I don’t have to be perfect.

I can take the next step.

I don’t have to compare myself.

I can give God my worries.

I can keep growing.

One bad day doesn’t define me.

I can be nervous and still be brave.

I can be confident without being perfect.

These are the notes I especially want our girls to reach for when life gets hard.

When Insecurity Gets Loud, Make God’s Truth Louder

This is where I would challenge the girls to make the activity personal.

Don’t just choose the sticky notes that sound pretty. Choose the truths you have a hard time believing.

If you constantly compare yourself to other girls, put “God did not create me to be her. He created me to be me.”somewhere you will see it every day.

If you’re afraid of making mistakes, write “A mistake is something I made—not who I am.”

If you feel like you have to earn everyone’s approval, write “I don’t need everyone to choose me. God already has.”

If you’re nervous about something ahead, write “I can be nervous and still be brave.”

If you have a bad game, bad grade, bad day, or make a decision you regret, remind yourself: “One bad day doesn’t define me.”

And then don’t just read the note.

Say it out loud.

There is something powerful about recognizing the thought running through your mind and intentionally replacing it with truth.

When insecurity gets loud, make God’s truth louder.

Keep Adding to Them

I also don’t want this to be an activity the girls do once and forget about.

Give them permission to keep adding sticky notes.

As they read Scripture and learn something new about God’s character, write it down.

When a verse speaks directly to something they’re walking through, write it down.

When God reminds them of something they’ve forgotten, write it down.

Over time, those little pieces of paper can become a visual reminder of everything they are learning about God.

Because the more our girls know who God is, the more they begin to understand who they are.

They are daughters of the Creator of the universe. They are loved. Chosen. Known. Seen. Forgiven. Created intentionally and given purpose.

And when they begin to believe those truths, it changes the way they walk onto a court, into a classroom, through a difficult friendship, or into an uncertain season.

We aren’t just trying to raise confident girls.

We’re trying to raise girls whose confidence has somewhere solid to stand.

So give them a pad of sticky notes. Give them Scripture. Give them a few ideas to get started.

And then encourage them to fill the ordinary places of their lives with reminders of extraordinary truth:

Know who God is. Know whose you are. And when the other voices get loud, make God’s truth louder.

Pair This Activity With the CHOSEN Devotional

This activity is meant to be more than a collection of positive sayings. It is about teaching our girls to build their identity on the truth of who God is.

If you’re doing this activity with your daughter, team, youth group, or small group, start with our CHOSEN Christian Team Devotional: God Is Faithful. I Am Chosen. So I Can Live Confidently.

The devotional walks girls through three foundational truths:

God is faithful. → I am chosen. → I can live confidently.

Then use this sticky note activity to help them carry those truths beyond the devotional and into their everyday lives.
